three ideas for your girls' weekend (that aren't just bar hopping)

Planning a bachelorette weekend or girls' trip and want it to be extra special for your besties? Read on for Kay & Co's ideas to make your girls' weekend into a memory that your best gals will always savor.

Host a spa party

Sometimes spending the day bar-hopping sounds really amazing, and sometimes it just sounds exhausting. If you’re looking for something a little different, a spa party with your girls might be the answer. Mani-pedis are always a great activity for a big group of girls; follow that with blow-outs, sun-safe spray tans, or facials to really take your spa day over the top. Don’t forget cucumbers for your eyes!

If you’re heading to Charleston for your bachelorette, we’ve got an amazing amount of salon options for all styles. For bachelorettes staying on Sullivan’s Island or Isle of Palms, don’t forget to check out Mt. Pleasant’s options, too – it’s easy to get to and is home to a couple of our favorite nail and hair salons.

Pro tip: check with your salons of choice to see if they provide champagne for their guests or if you can bring your own. Make a day of it with Kay & Co’s Pampered Party – we’ll book your appointments at our favorite Charleston salons, have a signature cocktail and sweet treats waiting for you, and even hook you up with a vintage bus so you can stay relaxed all day long.

Learn to make flower crowns or floral arrangements

You’ve probably noticed that flower crown crafting & floral arranging parties are all the rage right now for bachelorette parties & girls’ getaways – and for good reason. There’s no better way to make a memory with your besties, and you’ll also get some mega adorable pictures out of the experience if you decide to wear your flower crowns out for the night. That’s a win-win in our book!

Charleston is lucky enough to have a few local florists that teach flower crown and floral arranging classes – and if you’re in town for the weekend, they’d love to celebrate with you! We love Ali of Fetes de Fleurs for our flower crown needs; she can come to you at your beach house or meet you at a bar or retail space. Make sure to get lots of pictures of your girl gang looking like a real life Snapchat filter when you’re done!

Pro tip: take your flower crown party over the top by bringing along a signature cocktail and some sweet treats to wherever you’re hosting – we love flower crown picnics with champagne cocktails and baked goods from Sugar Bakeshop. If your party is looking for something to unwind a bit in the midst of your party weekend, check out Kay & Co’s Floral Fête: you’ll start the day with a yoga or barre class, followed by brunch and mani-pedis before your flower party and a night on the town. We’ll even whip up a signature cocktail just for you so you don’t have to worry about a thing!

Take a sunset cocktail cruise

Who doesn’t love a good boat ride? If you’re hosting your destination bachelorette in a city near the coast (like Charleston!), chances are good that someone offers short cruises or harbor tours. Whether it’s BYOB or alcohol is provided, your besties will have a good time and you might even get a little history lesson out of it!

Coming to Charleston for your bachelorette? Adventure Harbor Tours offers a 90-minute BYOB cruise around the Charleston Harbor, and they almost guarantee that you’ll see dolphins. Here’s where to book your own Sunset Cocktail Cruise.

Pro tip: Add in brunch, a few hours of tubing or wakeboarding, and happy hour to make a day of it – or just book Kay & Co’s Day on the Water Package, where we’ll handle all the details and bookings (and the B in BYOB!) so all you have to do is show up and get to partying!
