our favorite Charleston beach houses (& a discount!)
So you’ve decided on Charleston for your bachelorette, girls’ weekend, or big family trip. Yay! Where to start? We’re Charleston’s luxury group travel planners, & we’re here to help!
Airbnb & VRBO is always a good place to start, but it can be overwhelming — that’s why we’ve rounded up five of our favorite beach houses, perfect for large groups & all conveniently located in Sullivan’s Island, Isle of Palms, or Folly Beach.
A few tips on the different beaches: Folly Beach is great if you want to go out near the beach and not venture too far for nightlife & restaurants -- Folly actually has its own little beach town with some great party spots, local brunch favorites, & a little (tiny) bit of shopping. The houses here aren't the huge, beautifully decorated beach-side homes that you might imagine, but Folly has a lot of charm and feels more like a local spot. It's a little further to get downtown, though -- so weigh what you want to do and if you're going to want to spend more time beach-side or downtown on the Peninsula! Folly Beach Chair Company is a great asset out here, too — they’ll deliver chairs, umbrellas, & coolers to your beach spot so you can just show up & relax!
Isle of Palms & Sullivan's Island are right next to each other on the east side of Charleston, and they're equally beautiful -- both will offer the big, beach-y houses you might be imagining for your bachelorette. Sullivan's & IOP are both an easier drive to downtown Charleston, so if you want an equal mix of beach time and downtown party time, either of these islands will be perfect for you. Some of my favorite Charleston restaurants are on Sullivan's Island, too -- Obstinate Daughter would be great for a nice dinner out with your ladies, and Home Team BBQ is a local favorite, especially known for their frozen drinks & amazing wings.
Don't worry, you can't go wrong with any of the islands around Charleston -- no matter what island you choose, you'll have a great time. I love renting bikes to explore the beaches, and there are a few yoga and barre studios around town that will come to you and teach a morning class on the beach to your group. No matter what, you’re going to have a great time!

Lighthouse on Folly Beach sleeps 16 in 8 bedrooms, so you can comfortably host all your friends & family without having to fight about who sleeps on the couch. Your own beachfront access, a big porch for entertaining, & a quick walk to downtown Folly makes this the perfect house for your beach getaway.
Sand Dune on Isle of Palms sleeps 14 in 7 bedrooms; their rooftop features the cutest cabana bar & space for lounging, so you can bring in a private chef & host a chill evening overlooking the ocean one night during your trip.
Sea Shell on Isle of Palms sleeps 14 in 7 bedrooms, but more importantly, has a pool. Combine your Sea Shell booking with a Sand Dune booking (above) to host 28 of your closest friends — they’re right next to each other!
Poseidon on Folly Beach sleeps 10 in 5 bedrooms, & I’m obsessed with their outdoor balcony for a private wine tasting or cocktail class!
Pelican on Isle of Palms sleeps 12 guests in 5 bedrooms, along with a pool that looks like the perfect place to host a backyard pool party & bbq. Don’t need quite as many beds but still want a pool? Check out High Tide!
